Guide to...Lincoln

This weekend is our Lincoln event.

Lincoln is an amazing city.  It is a cathedral city that can be traced back to the Iron Age, with a settlement at Brayford Pool.

The Romans settled in AD 50 and built a fortress which evolved into a settlement, evidence of which can still be seen around the city.

There is a huge amount of history and historical attractions to see and guided walks around the city help to bring it all to life.  The city has art galleries and museums which help add to the wealth of culture.

It has a vibrant cultural scene and there are many outdoor markets throughout the year, with local produce and arts and crafts for sale, including the famous Christmas market at the beginning of December.

Not forgetting our events at the Epic Centre!

It's the largest of our venues and we're returning for our 12th year.  The venue gives us the opportunity for more talks and workshops and stage performances that we can't have at other venues.

We will have 120 stands and all our usual features.  Can't wait to see you there!

Now:

Trans-Dimensional Shift
Teresa Sequeria

I will take you on a journey to show you how to be present in your own Trans-Dimensional body, giving you tools to raising your vibration so you can balance your 4th, 5th and above, dimensional bodies into the alignment that is required in this new paradigm.

Nottingham event is now fully booked and we are running a waiting list for spaces.  We need a couple of volunteers for Friday afternoon and evening and for early Saturday, to help with the unloading of vehicles and transporting things up stairs.  It is limited waiting per vehicle unloading, so we need to get them empty as quickly as possible.  Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks and have a great bank holiday!

10 Things...to do to Centre Yourself

We all get a bit overwhelmed in life.  Even those of us that think we are generally quite "Zen" like!

It's nice to have a few little tips up your sleeve for days when it all gets too much and you haven't the time to take a meditation/yoga class or if you're in the middle in your weekly shop.

Here's 10 things you can do to centre yourself quickly and easily, while busy at home or even while you're out and about.

3 Count Breath

This is the easiest one to do while out and about.  Inhale to the count of 3.  Hold the breath to the count of 3.  Exhale to the count of 3.  This can help focus and slow down your breathing and help to feel a bit calmer.

Mantra or Affirmation

Just a quick, positive statement that you can focus on, again to just help bring a little calm. Something along the lines of "This will pass" or "I feel calm".  Deceptively simple and effective.

Find Nature

Go for a little walk.  A local park is preferable but if there isn't one close enough even a quick walk around the block can help.  You will still sense the air and feel the daylight.

Do a Mundane Task

Cleaning is such a pain.  Except when you're thinking yourself around in circles over a problem or feeling stressed.  Get yourself out of your head by cleaning the bathroom, hoovering up or even de-cluttering a kitchen drawer.  A mundane job keeps your mind distracted giving your spirit a bit of a break!

Stretch

Stretching is awesome!  A great way to physically ground yourself and put your body back in touch with the spirit.

Write

Sometimes, venting frustrations in writing is a great release.  Lists can also help focus you and help you feel a little bit more in control again.

Focus

Focus is probably the main feature in all the other things listed.  Focusing on something, takes you out of your head a bit. Whether it's preparing a meal, writing or cleaning, it's the focusing  that
is the key.

Gratitude

Take a minute to mentally give thanks for something.  If you hate your shopping trip, think about why you are able to shop.  Focus (again!) on the things to be thankful for about it.  Having people to buy for, money for the trip, how lovely it's going to be to get home!

Music

Sometimes when I feel scattered I put some "energising" music on...but that just makes me feel more agitated.  If you're in that state of mind, find some slow, peaceful music to help bring you back to a more gentle state of mind.  I always have a particular CD handy for such times.

Find an App

This one is a bit "out there".  There are lots of apps for your phone/tablet or computer that are a bit "zen" like.  Whether it's a sound board of natural sounds or some peaceful music, they can help to introduce a sense of calm.  I have one called Buddhist Meditation.  It's just a bell every few seconds for a certain amount of time.  Just a minute or two helps me feel centred again.

How about you?  Do you have a "go to" plan?  What do you do to help yourself centred?

In Focus...Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to the feet, hands, or ears with specific hand techniques.

Areas on the foot correspond to areas of the body.  Manipulating these areas can improve health through a persons energy or Qi.

The theory is that blockages in a persons energy field can prevent healing.  Using a therapy like Reflexology can help to clear these blockages and promote healing.

It works alongside conventional medicine and as well as promote healing it can improve wellbeing and vitality.

Reflexology practices have been documented in ancient China and Egypt but was introduced in the West by William H Fitzgerald in 1913.  Fitzgerald claimed  that applying pressure had anesthetic effects on other areas of the body.

His work was modified in the 1930's and 1940's by Eunice D Ingham a nurse and physiotherapist. She mapped the body and developed the system that is used today.

A Reflexology session usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes and the therapist will focus on the soles of your feet - or hands if you are ticklish!  Pressure is applied to to your feet to work out which areas of your body aren't functioning well.  Your therapist will also ask about your medical history, health issues, lifestyle and diet.  All of which play a big part in your bodys energy field.

Specific health issues will need several sessions.

For more information about reflexology, therapist, and training visit  britreflex.co.uk   or keep an eye out for a practitioner at one of our events!
